Admissions to Advanced Level Courses
Entry to courses is by application during November and December of the preceding year of entry.
Internal students will be given paper copies of the application form as part of the transition programme; these must be returned to reception by the deadline stated on the application. This is in the December of the year before entry to Sixth Form.
Applications to the Sixth Form for September 2018 entry are now closed, in accordance with our Admissions Policy.
The minimum academic requirements for entry of applicants into the Sixth Form are four GCSE passes at grades 7 and above plus two GCSE passes at grade 6. Grades 7, 8 or 9 are required in the subjects to be studied at A Level.
From 2018, all GCSEs, with the exception of business, textiles technology and product design technology, will be graded on a scale of 9-1. Business, textiles and product design technology will be graded on the A*-G scale. In the entry requirements set our above, therefore, a grade B in any of these named subjects will be counted as equivalent to a grade 6 and a grade A will be counted as equivalent to a grade 7.
All students entering the Sixth Form will be required to have passed GCSE mathematics and English language with a minimum of a grade 6 (or an equivalent qualification recognised for tertiary education in the UK which will allow them to communicate effectively in spoken and written English and to understand spoken and written English without difficulty).
Exceptions to these requirements can be made by appeal in certain circumstances (e.g. illness, bereavement, equivalent qualifications).
