International ‘Gold Medal’ for Altrincham Girls’ Grammar School
Altrincham Grammar School for Girls School has been awarded the British Council’s prestigious International School Award in recognition of its work to bring the world into the classroom.
The International School Award is a badge of honour for schools that do outstanding work in international education, such as through links with partner schools overseas. Fostering an international dimension in the curriculum is at the heart of the British Council’s work with schools, so that young people gain the cultural understanding and skills they need to live and work as global citizens.
Prince’s Teaching Institute Mark
We are delighted to receive The Prince’s Teaching Institute Mark for 2011/12. This year our English, Geography, History, Modern Foreign Languages, Mathematics and Science departments received the Mark in recognition of exceptional work carried out within the school and with the wider community.
Altrincham Grammar School for Girls awarded Artsmark Gold
Arts Council England has awarded Artsmark Gold to Altrincham Grammar School for Girls in recognition of the school’s commitment to, and excellence in, arts education. Altrincham Grammar School for Girls is part of the 1,750 schools in England who received an Artsmark this year.
Mary Speakman (Headteacher) said ‘I’m delighted that the Arts Council has recognised Altrincham Grammar School for Girls’ dynamic arts education programme. I’d like to thank all our staff for their hard work in achieving this award’.
AGGS Geography Department wins Gold Medal!
The Geography Department at Altrincham Grammar School for Girls has recently gained two prestigious awards from the Geographical Association. The Secondary Geography Quality Mark [SGQM] is in recognition of excellence in teaching and learning in geography and the coveted Centre of Excellence status is in recognition of contributions to disseminating quality approaches to the teaching of geography to colleagues. The Geography Department at AGGS is one of only thirty five schools nationally to hold the Centre of Excellence status.
Gold Award for Inspiring Information, Advice and Guidance
We are very pleased to announce that, following the assessment visit and validation meeting, we have received confirmation that we have achieved the Gold Award for Inspiring IAG. We hope that the good quality provision of CEIAG, which is now in place, will continue to enable our pupils and students to make well informed decisions about their futures.
100% Pass Arts Award Bronze
57 girls Year 9 girls have all passed their Bronze Arts Award! The Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification (similar to the DofE in Bronze, Silver, Gold) where pupils take part, enjoy, study, improve and lead in arts activities of their choice, which may be dance, drama, music, art, craft, photography or a combination. The award has been studied as an extra-curricular activity with with Miss Duerden.
