Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning
This essential part of any pupil’s education is an evolving ethos at Altrincham Grammar School for Girls.
Self-awareness, managing our feelings, understanding the importance of being empathetic, being motivated to be successful with every challenge and using a wide range of social skills are part of the daily life in this school for all staff, including our associate staff, and pupils alike.
These skills are not delivered in discrete lessons but through the diverse curriculum and activities offered at this school. The school is also delighted to be developing and new SEAL programme for the Sixth Form with the help of the DCSF National Strategies.

“A Happy, motivated and caring school community was strongly evident when the assessment panel went into Altrincham Grammar School for Girls. Every child really does matter and all children are encouraged to develop to their full potential emotionally, socially and academically. The school is a lead school and SEAL work that goes on in the school is outstanding and an excellent example of good practice. Pupils understand the importance of SEAL and how this impacts positively on them both in and out of school. An excellent example of a Healthy School is the only way to describe Altrincham Grammar School for Girls and we are delighted to present them with their outstanding achievement award!”
