AGGS-Reunion-Group-photo-1-15Sept18We held our school reunion on Saturday 15th September, starting at the school at 4.30pm. Our year entered AGGS in 1971, some girls left after ‘O’ Levels in 1976 and others stayed on and did ‘A’ levels in 1978.  Some people joined us for only part of that time, but we all have very fond memories of the school.  Miss Jackson was the Headmistress and the old Breeze Hill existed with a few portacabins!  Our upper sixth form was the first year to enter the Sixth Form Centre which was very exciting for us all.

School-reunion-6-(2)At our reunion this year we gathered in the school hall and were treated to a wonderful tour of the school by Mr. D Beddow, the Facilities Manager.  We were particularly impressed with the new library and the Centenary Garden, but it was also interesting to see more familiar places like the gym and the labs with green science overalls!

School-reunion-cake-(2)We returned to the hall and sang the school hymn before moving on to the Bowdon Hotel for a lovely meal complete with Reunion Cake.  People brought memorabilia like school scarves and blazers and even a hat.  When we joined in 1971 we were supposed to have indoor shoes and outdoor shoes and hats.  We shared photos and memories and vowed to hold another reunion maybe in five years rather than ten.  This was our third reunion, after twenty and thirty-year reunions in 1998 and 2008.  We used Facebook and word of mouth to contact well over a hundred people and on the day around 44 old girls attended the meal.
